A YOUNG man suffered a serious head wound when he was attacked by a knife wielding thug in Timperley Village.

Christian Whinnerah was leaving Pinocchios pizza takeaway with pal Dave Gibson, 19, when the lout struck.

The attacker - who had been behind him in the queue - followed them out and shouted at the friends. Then he pushed his head into Christians before brandishing what at first appeared to be a truncheon. But the weapon had a six inch blade and he struck Christian over the head with it, causing a deep wound that severed a temple artery.

Then the thug, who was with a companion, calmly went back into the Stockport Road shop and ordered food!

Twenty year-old Christian, from Brooklands, and Dave, 19, made off and raised the alarm. Christian was treated at Wythenshawe Hospital, where his wound was stitched.

Radio operator Christian - who has applied to join the RAF Police - says: It was a terrifying experience. After the attack I could feel blood running down my face and then I realised any clothes were red.

Dave and I thought I was going to die because of all the blood I was losing.

It was very serious and the doctors said it could have been fatal. The blow could easily have cracked my skull.

I cant believe something like this has happened. It is so shocking.

The attacker is white and 16 to 18 years-old. He has short cropped fair hair which is spiky on top and was wearing a light coloured top, dark jeans and light trainers.

His companion is white, aged 16 to 18 with dark hair and he was wearing dark clothes.
