WHEN I travelled down Bradgate Road in Altrincham last weekend I was appalled and horrified to note that the last two remaining saplings planted by Trafford within the last five years to replace felled mature trees had been brutally vandalised.
The tops of both has been completely torn off and discarded on the pavement.
Once again we are faced with senseless destruction by person or persons unknown, who fail to realise that in destroying young trees they are destroying their own and their future children's clean air factory.
Is anyone in the area prepared to step forward and give information in confidence to the police so the perpetrators can be arrested and punished?
Are parents or guardians willing to question their offspring about these incidents in an attempt to stand up for civilised behaviour?
If we fail, as a community, to express our disapproval and are not prepared to impose sanctions, then next time they strike it may be a person they attack - with more serious consequences.
