THERE was a big attendance for the Open Schools Meeting staged by Trafford AC at their plush Longford Stadium headquarters.

And well to the fore were Loreto Girls Grammar School and Ashton on Mersey Sports College with a number of impressive wins.

Loreto had winners in K Asbury U13s Girls Long Jump, S Crosbie U17s Shot, N Coyle U15 High Jump, S Hughes U15s 1500m R Swarbrisk U15s 800m, K Burgess U15 Hurdles.

Starring for Ashton were V Lamb U15s Girls Long Jump, L Willis U15 girls Shot, V Lamb boys 200m, S Morrison U13s girls 800m and J Yates U13 girls 100m.

Blessed Thomas Holford were also successful as they had M Rough winning the U15 boys 1500m while Sale Grammar had success in the U13 Boys 800m as J Phillipson raced home in 2m37s.

Trafford AC officials were pleased with the splendid turn out and a number of young stars were invited to join the club and continue their athletics education at a club renowned for its development of young talent over the years.
