THIS month sees the 31st anniversary of the implementation of the 1967 Abortion Act. Since then more than five million unborn children have been killed, legally, in this country in NHS hospitals or private clinics.
And how many, I wonder, in circumstance such as those depicted recently in Coronation Street, when Nick and Leanne decided they were 'not ready yet' for a child?
As well as demonstrating how lax our abortion laws are, the programme illustrated how modern attitudes have devalued human life. But every life is precious and deserves protection both before and after birth.
Readers may wish to join a nationwide silent roadside vigil to remember the unborn children killed through legal abortion to be held between 11am and 1pm on Saturday on Washway Road, Sale, just south of the junction with Haboro Road.
