A COUNCIL chief at Trafford Council is investigating a complaint into how the Labour group voted on a planning issue.

Labour councillors on the development control committee rejected a bid for a housing scheme at the Temple Lawn Tennis and Social Club's grounds in Sale, in the Priory ward.

The standards committee has asked director of legal services Rod Armstrong to investigate allegations the group voted on political lines. Members of the committee should only take into account planning considerations.

Leader of the council, Cllr David Acton, says: "The Conservatives have made this complaint. It is outrageous to think there is anything untoward in the way this decision was made.

"As I understand it the Conservatives voted on party lines in favour of the application."
