Win for Williams
RIDING in his first ever 25 mile time trial Richard Williams of Seamons Cycling Club, scored a win in the Withington Wheelers Novices Event last Sunday.
Richards time was 1hour 4 mins 29 secs.
The race was held near Byley in Cheshire in cold and windy conditions.
Other Seamons riders did not fare as well, John Lambert was well below his best with a time of 1.12.30 and Veterans Champion Pete Devereux being unable to finish when he snapped his chain.
Seamons pulled off a team win in the Manchester and District 10 mile race held on the Goostrey to Chelford course.
Tim Seddon was the fastest Seamons rider with an excellent time of 23.26 which was only marginally faster than Steve Davis's 23.31.
Third team counter was Paul McAllister in 23.34.
The race was won by Sion Jones of Rhyl RC in 22.28.
Road Race specialist Chris Siepen took on some of the country's first category cyclists when he completed in the Chesterfield Road Race recently.
The event was over a hilly in Derbyshire and at the end of 65 hard miles Chris took 20th place showing that he can mix it with the best.
