DAVE Perry was right about getting the Altrincham and Timperley area out of Trafford (Readers' Write, April 1). But what a pity he didn't include Sale in his argument.
The River Mersey has always been the natural boundary between Lancashire and Cheshire. The big mistake was made in 1974 when a millennium of history was swept aside and these two diverse areas were stitched together.
Let us start the new millennium by returning the borough north of the Mersey back to Manchdster and campaigning for a confederation of north Cheshire townships.
