A DISTRAUGHT mother from Davyhulme is trying to find the family who she believes have been given her son's beloved cat which went missing a month ago.
When the year-old cat, called Bob, disappeared from Vicky Baxter's home on Chislehurst Avenue in Davyhulme, she put up a notice and photo of Bob in local newsagent windows.
The poster pleaded with anyone who came across their cat to return her to the family - stressing that her four year old son Jeremy was pining for his lost pet.
But a few weeks later, Vicky's sister Paula received a anonymous phonecall that has left the family both distressed and angry.
"A woman rang the house and told Paula that she'd found Bob and that she was alright, but that she had been given to another family!" explained Vicky "I couldn't believe it - if she had seen my notice why didn't she return Bob? Why ring us?".
After finding out about the call, Vicky pressed 1471 on her phone to try and find out the last caller's phone number, but it had been witheld.
Now the Baxter family want to appeal to whoever has Bob to return her to her rightful owner.
"They might not know that she belongs to my son, so I'm hoping they will read this and come forward" Vicky said "and I wouldn't blame them for wanting to keep Bob because she's so cute - but she already has a family, and my son misses her."
If anyone knows the whereabouts of Bob and wants to contact the Baxter family ring Emma Procter at the SUM on 0161 908 3391.
