PARTINGTON residents now have good reason to cheer .
After demands made from local tenants, one community is starting to see regeneration .
It is now three years since the local estate at Partington was transferred to Manchester & District Housing Association - and a huge attempt has been made to make improvements on houses and the environment.
Highlights f rom the three year period include 338 new kitchens, central heating in 976 homes and 909 houses have now received new uPVC windows and doors.
Long standing tenant of Partington and founding member of Community Action, Maggie Carter, says, "There is definitely a positive change in the quality of the properties and this is immediately noticeable to those who return to the area - the whole place now feels a lot better."
Another major challenge was to reduce long term empty homes . With help from tenants, 120 properties out of 130 are now let. Maureen Sharp, the tenants representative on the team, says, "I was really happy with the progress we made - we all pulled together and I was pleased that my ideas were listened to and actioned where possible and that the outcome of our partnership was so successful."
