A LOCAL councillor has added her voice to SAM's campaign to clean up local 'Grotspots' in the area and make Trafford a more pleasant and eco-friendly place.
Broadheath ward Councillor Kathy Bullock is dismayed by some people's apparent disregard for the correct disposal of unwanted items from their homes.
When she came across an abandoned washing machine slap bang in the middle of a scenic footpath near Woodhouse Road in Sale, her immediate concern was that it could be a danger to young children.
"Whoever put this unwanted machine there obviously didn't think it through. Apart from being an eyesore, there's the real danger of a child being trapped in it".
Kathy is keen to encourage her constituents to use the free facility at Trafford council whereby one phonecall will organise the removal of a bulky unwanted item if people are having difficulty getting rid of it themselves.
The number to ring is Trafford 2000 on 0161 912 2000.
"We've had a few problems with fly-tipping and so on" said Kathy "It's really important that everyone takes care of the environment and is responsible for their own mess. Now Spring has arrived it's lovely to walk around and enjoy nature, but you don't want to see rubbish everywhere."
