SEAMONS IN ACTION
THE cycling season got underway last weekend with several Seamons riders in action all over the country.
Robin Haigh and Keith Bailey travelled to London to ride in the Eastway Road Race, a counting event in the Pete Fryer Trophy series.
The race was barely underway when 2 riders broke clear of the main bunch but with 60 miles still to go most of the riders thought this move was too early to succeed.
But some determined riding by the duo saw them stay clear despite some frantic chasing by a small group including Robin. He had to settle for 4th place in the sprint while Keith finished in 27th place in the main pack.
The Nova C.C. Team Time Trail on the hilly Gawsworth course saw 2 Seamons teams competing.
Chris Seipen and Paul McAlliser recorded an excellent time of 59 mins 59 secs but still found themselves out of the top placings.
The pairing of Dave Bates and Steve Davis had some bad luck when they were forced to stop at some road works but they still recorded a respectable time of 1 hr 2 mins.
