CONTRARY to what Mr Garvey of Timperley wrote two weeks ago, I am happy to say that reports of the Baxter family's demise have been grately exaggerated, as we are alive and well and living in Broadheath.
That is myself, Chris Baxter, and my mother Barbara Baxter, who lives with me.
My connection with Lonnie Donegan is that I am Tom and Gracie's grandson, making Lonnie my second cousin. But I have always called him Uncle Tony and though he now lives in Spain we still exchange Christmas cards and talk occasionally on the 'phone.
Back in the Sixties and Seventies he would sometimes visit when he was playing in Manchester, taking us to his show and then on for a meal - and though he is now in his late sixties he is still working and playing. In fact he has just cut a new album.
In response to the other letters, I would confirm that information given was correct.
