Quarry Bank Mill have fun all 'sown up' this half term, with children making colourful giant sunflowers, learning all about what makes plants grow and making what every decent garden should have – a loveable scarecrow!
Rachel Whalley, visitor experience assistant at Quarry Bank Mill said: “ The events we have planned for the half-term school holiday are perfect for families. Children will love taking part in the ‘How does your garden grow’ workshops where they’ll learn lots of green-fingered tips, as well as making beautiful giant sunflowers out of coloured paper.
The workshops will run from Monday, May 30 to Friday, June 3, from noon to 4pm. This event is free to ticket holders and sessions run continuously throughout the day all week.
“And don’t forget the Scarecrow Days on Tuesday, May 31 and Thursday, June 2, where children can explore the Apprentice House garden and make their own friendly mini-scarecrow to take home with them.”
Tickets for the Scarecrow Workshops are £3 per child for an hour’s session. The Scarecrow workshops start at 12.30, with further sessions at 1.30pm and 2.30pm.
Why not enjoy a tasty snack in the Mill Pantry, or if you’re looking for something more substantial there’s plenty to choose from in the licensed Mill restaurant, including children’s food boxes full of tempting goodies.
