WHILE Sunday mornings are traditionally the day for a lie-in, many families are expected to set their alarm clocks early this Sunday for a once-in-a-lifetime glimpse of the Olympic torch.
The torch relay will come into Trafford from Media City at around 6.15am and will travel along Trafford Wharf Road up to Old Trafford stadium, across Chester Road on to Warwick Road passing Trafford Town Hall, turn left on to Talbot Road and then right on to Seymour Grove.
Following the spectacle, a series of events will take place at Lancashire County Cricket Club from 7am.
Families can take part in fun sporting activities, cheer their favourite Mancunian mascots in a race, and witness Trafford school children attempt a ‘breakfast munching’ world record!
Activities include: l Free cereal bars for early bird visitors courtesy of Kelloggs l Football coaching with Man Utd foundation l Basketball matches l Interactive BBC stall l Get up close to the real torch Free parking is available to everyone turning up to watch the torch relay and to attend the Good Morning Trafford event at LCCC.
People are advised to arrive in good time so they can park their car and find a good cheer point along the torch relay route.
Parking is available for free at Manchester United Football Club, Lancashire County Cricket Club (Great Stone Road entrance), Lowry Outlet Mall (until 7.30am) and Stretford High School. Manchester United is opening N1 carpark only (North stand), the entrance is on Wharf Side Way and there is no access via Sir Matt Busby way.
