A VERY special visitor with a very special package visited Springfield Primary in Sale on Monday.
Worsley resident Melanie Angold, who carried the torch through the Lancashire Village of Euxton on June 1, brought her torch to the school. Sharp thinking year five pupil Thomas Hobday, whose aunt Jenny is a friend of Melanie arranged the visit.
The children got to hold the torch and find out Melanie's inspirational story and why she was chosen as a torch bearer. Melanie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006 and after a five year battle, received the all-clear this year. In the meantime she has raised more than £40,000 for cancer charities.
