Countdown star Carol Vorderman has spoken out against presenter Jeremy Clarkson over his remarks on Meghan Markle.
Clarkson made the comments in his newspaper column for The Sun, describing that he 'loathed' the Duchess of Susses "on a cellular level".
The former Top Gear presenter wrote that Meghan "is a different story" and that he is "unable to sleep" for his dreams "of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, "shame" and throw lumps of excrement at her".
The comments quickly received major backlash as former Countdown alumnus Vorderman wrote: "NO Jeremy Clarkson. Not on any level, in any circumstance, is it ok to write this stuff about any woman."
NO Jeremy Clarkson. Not on any level, in any circumstance, is it ok to write this stuff about any woman & absolutely NO to "everyone who's my age thinks the same"

No no no. We absolutely do NOT think the same.

Whilst comedian and actor John Bishop also spoke out, condemning Clarkson's words, saying: "I don't care who you are or who you work for you simply can not write things like this. It is a blatant appeal to incite humiliation and violence on a woman. Some have excused it as dark humour. There is no joke here @JeremyClarkson and no excuse."

Whilst activist and CEO of The Five Found Nimco Ali (OBE) shared: "A young black woman opens up about her struggle with suicidal thoughts as a result of the abuse she got from the media and this is how some men in the media react. This is absolutely horrific."

Jeremy Clarkson receives backlash amid Meghan Markle comments
Clarkson's comments came in response to the new Netflix documentary on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan.
The limited series documented the couple's story from when they first met, their marriage and their eventual departure from the Royal Family.
In the series, the couple shared their thoughts on how the media impacted their relationship with the public, as Meghan said: "You are making people want to kill me.
She added: "It’s not just a tabloid, it’s not just some story, you are making me scared… And you’ve created it for what? Because you’re bored or because it sells your papers or it makes you feel better about your own life?"
