IT was the end of an era when staff who had worked at the old Altrincham hospital met up to mark its closure on Friday.
Altrincham General, on Market Street, has closed to make way for a new £17m facility.
Porter Bob Sharples - who has moved to the new hospital - organised the get-together at Wetherspoons in Altrincham for past and present staff members - including porters, cleaners and nurses.
And they raised their glasses in memory of health campaigner Pat Morris - who spearheaded the fight for improved hospital services in Altrincham until her death in 2009.
A former nurse who attended, who worked at Altrincham for many years, said: "It was a sad day because we have a lot of happy memories from there.
"But hopefully the care and attention provided there will continue at the new hospital."
