TIMPERLEY Methodist Church came to the rescue to prevent the village's festive celebration event being a washout, when a storm hit on Friday night.
The Stockport Road Church opened its doors to Santa and his Elf for an impromptu grotto, after the storm had threatened to ruin the grotto experience.
The singers still performed in gruelling conditions -Wayne Devlin and newcomers Jordan Drinkwater and Starry Lucy.
The celebration was supported by Churchill Living who funded the Christmas lights.
The Treasure Trail is now officially launched, offering two weeks of festive detective fun to find clues and win one of the many hampers on offer.
Cllr Laura Evans said “It’s the fighting spirit that the shop keepers and residents exhibit that made it all come together.
"The children from Heyes Lane Primary School sang despite the downpour to bring smiles to everybody’s faces”. The trail is available on the Trafford Council website under Timperley Festive Trail and the hampers are on display in Timperley Library.
