DOES your group or society want to know more about the work of Greater Manchester’s largest adult hospice?
St Ann’s Hospice shares its experiences through a team of volunteer ambassadors like Judith Lacy, from Altrincham, who gives talks to the public.
Her husband Kevin, an IT project manager, was treated at the hospice before he died of cancer aged 49 more than five years ago.
She said: “The role is varied and might involve a two-minute speech to thank an organisation for a cheque, or a half-hour presentation about the history of St Ann’s.
“I know the hospice is keen to hear from groups or societies who might want to find out more about the charity.
“Some people think of a hospice as a dark, grey place and a one-way street but it’s not like that at all. Some 40 per cent of patients return home, having attended the day care centre or getting their medication stabilised.”
St Ann’s provides free care to more than 3,000 patients, their families and carers each year.
