Community backs roundabout appeal in memory of Sale girl

A FUND set up in memory of a little girl from Sale hit its £6,000 target over just one weekend.
Four year-old Phoebe Casson died suddenly on September 17 from a rare genetic condition called LPIN1.
The fun-loving little girl enjoyed going to Moor Nook Park in Sale, near her home, and when a run-down roundabout was removed, she wanted to know when it would be replaced.
So after her death, her parents, Ralph, 54, and Claire, 44, launched a £6,000 crowdfunding appeal to buy a new roundabout for the Norris Road park as a tribute to her.
Phoebe's story touched the hearts of many people and there was a massive response to the appeal. The target was hit over a weekend and by September 30 the total stood at £8,590.
Phoebe's mum, Claire, said of her daughter: "She was the light of our lives.
"She was a vibrant and fun little girl and loved to go to Moor Nook Park, or our park as she called it. 
"The roundabout there was in a poor state of repair and was eventually removed. Phoebe was always asking when we would get a new one. 
"We feel that a new roundabout would not only be a fitting tribute to our gorgeous girl but would be enjoyed by all her friends for years to come."
Phoebe first became ill when she was 17-months-old and when she was two she was diagnosed with the rare condition LPIN1, which affects 1 in 100,000 people.
But, except for periods when she had had episodes of it, she was a very active little girl.
She went to Stagecoach Drama School in Didsbury and attended Stalder Dance Academy in Sale, where she had taken part in shows. She also enjoyed swimming and gymnastics.
She attended Sale Private Day Nursery on Derbyshire Road South, Sale, and had just started at Lime Tree Primary Academy, Budworth Rd, Sale.
Claire, of Derbyshire Road South, added: "She was an incredibly active and confident little girl."
Claire said the support of the community had been 'amazing, it has been very touching'. 
She added: "The school and nursery have been very supportive."
The Friends of Moor Nook Park commented on its website on the response to the appeal: "Wow! What a kind and generous community we live in! 
"What a wonderful tribute to a lovely little girl lost all too soon! Thank you everyone who helped them reach their goal."
Claire commented on the JusGiving page: "It has been a tough time but just wanted you to know that your support is really giving us strength day by day."
Phoebe's funeral will take place at 10.20am on Wednesday, October 5 at Altrincham Crematorium. Mourners should wear bright colours. Family flowers only and any donations to the roundabout appeal for Moor Nook Park.
