HALE resident Andrew Knowles has completed nine challenges during the past nine months to raise awareness for two charities.
Andrew has been testing himself in a bid to boost Cardiac Risk in the Young and Combat Stress.
Both charities are close to his heart.
In 2011, a 23-year-old friend of his died suddenly from an undetected underlying heart condition.
Andrew is aware of the work of Combat Stress because he served for five years in the Royal Air Force. The charity is dedicated to supporting ex-service personnel suffering from a wide range of mental ill-health issues.
In total, Andrew has completed 77km hiking, 20km running and 3.2km open-water swimming. He has climbed the highest mountains in England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales.
