A TIMPERLEY teenager whose family has been rocked by cancer will carry out a 'hair-raising' stunt this week - to show his sick brother how much he loves him.
Seventeen-year-old Luke Stone will have his hair shaved of by his schoolmates at St Ambrose College, Hale Barns, tomorrow, to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Luke wanted to get his head shaved to look like his 13-year-old brother Callum, who lost his hair undergoing chemotherapy treatment.
Callum is currently in the USA with his mother, Lorraine, having proton beam treatment to treat his cancer. He has a rare form of bone cancer called Ewing Sarcoma.
The Stones aren't strangers to dealing with cancer. Three years ago Luke and Callum's dad, Ged, lost his battle with stomach cancer at the age of 49.
School teacher Ged was the head of physics at St Ambrose College, the school where Callum is a pupil along with Luke.
Luke said: "It has been awful to once again have to deal with this disease in my family.
"Callum is being braver than I ever could, despite the hardships that no 13-year-old should have to face, and yet still managing to keep a positive outlook, even after all the horrible side effects from the chemo.
"I wanted to follow in his footsteps by in my own way walking beside him on his path to recovery and show him how much I love him and support him through these dark times."
Two years ago Luke and Callum raised funds for Cancer Research in their dad's memory. Callum shaved his head while Luke captained a team in a charity rugby match. Between them the brothers raised £6,500.
Luke's aunt, Angela McCallum, who is looking after Luke, said: "I am incredibly proud of both my nephews."
