MESSENGER readers have thrown their support behind the‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ Christmas present appeal that care company Home Instead in Sale and Altrincham recently launched in the newspaper. its ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ Christmas present appeal.
The Home Instead team set up a stall in Sainsbury’s, Sale, on November 23 and the community really stepped up to the challenge by donating 100 presents for elderly people.
This is in addition to 80 presents donated at Timperley Methodist Church on Saturday, November 18.
Last year more than 750 presents were donated and distributed and the team at Home Instead are aiming to top that number in 2017.
This year schools, including Heyes Lane Primary School, Broomwood Primary School, Wellington School and Altrincham College of Arts will be getting involved in the appeal by making cards to accompany the presents.
Alan Savage, owner of Home Instead Altrincham and Sale, said, “We had a wonderful time at the Timperley Methodist Church’s Christmas Fayre last weekend, and we really enjoyed spending the day in Sainsbury’s collecting gifts, too."
