ST Ambrose College jazz musicians were in the mood when they entertained more than 50 pensioners from six care homes at a Christmas Party.
The school's choir prepared for their recording for the Songs of Praise School Choir of the Year Competition with a selection of carols and Christmas favourites, but the feet were really stomping when the Hale Barns College's 15 piece jazz band got in the swing with 'Jingle Bell Rock' and 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.'
Pictured are Olive Goldrick, 80, with musicians Ivan Livings and Mele Gadzuma and her great nephew Matthew Bancroft, 17.
A former teacher at St. Winifred's Primary School in Stockport, Olive, said : “I loved every moment especially listening to the choir and the jazz band and seeing Matthew.”
St. Ambrose's St. Vincent de Paul Society organises a series of events throughout the year to support and comfort the most vulnerable in society.
Organiser and head of sixth form, Pauline Ridgway, who also took the mic for her own stand up routine, said: “We are very keen to show the boys the true spirit of Christmas which means reaching out to the wider community, sharing what we have and listening and learning from those who though they might appear to be frail are still older and much wiser.”
