URMSTON’S Dorothy received rave reviews this week after her performance in the BBC1 talent show Over the Rainbow.
Danielle Hope, who is celebrating her 18th birthday today, secured her place in the competition for another week after receiving praise from the judges for her rendition of Cry Me a River.
Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber told Danielle she was a “very strong contender” and said her performance was “terrific”.
He also wished Danielle a happy birthday and offered to buy her a shandy to celebrate.
The other judges were also full of praise for the Knutsford High School student and former Highfield Primary School pupil.
Charlotte Church, who has said that Danielle has the most “obvious West End voice” out of all the contestants, said her “sultry” performance on Saturday was “exceptional”.
“The vocal was perfect and the way you acted it out was really special,” she said.
John Partridge, who plays the part of Christian in Eastenders, predicted that Danielle, who was voted into the bottom two last week, would make it to the final.
“Danielle you are one of our most consistent performers. You took a knock last week and you came out fighting,” he said.
And Sheila Hancock, who is one of Danielle’s idols, told the teen that she had a “special quality”.
“Whether she is Dorothy or not, she’ll be a big star, I am absolutely convinced of that. She’s wonderful.
“She has a subtlety and a gravity that would be absolutely wonderful as this rather solemn girl,” she said.
