FANS of Urmston star Danielle Hope have started a campaign to get the Over the Rainbow series onto DVD.
18-year-old Danielle won the popular BBC1 talent show in May and will play the role of Dorothy in Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s new West End version of The Wizard of Oz, which is scheduled to start in February at The London Palladium.
The teen was chosen from more than 9,000 applicants to appear on the show and won the public vote in the final on May 22, which was watched by 6.9m people.
After winning the show the former Highfield Primary School pupil said she was ‘on cloud 9’.
Her performances on the show had won praise from Lord Lloyd-Webber and judges Charlotte Church, Sheila Hancock and John Partridge.
Now, two months after the show’s finale, the Danielle Hope Forum has started a campaign to get the BBC to release the show onto DVD.
According to the forum, the BBC have refused to release a DVD because of lack of interest so they have started a petition to prove them wrong.
The forum want a DVD released that will include the whole series, backstage scenes, participant biographies and outtakes.
In a statement, the fan forum said: “Contrary to what the BBC proclaims, the flame of popularity that the show held still burns brightly.
“We are determined not to let this dynamic and vibrant television series vanish into the vaults of the BBC’s archives - but we need your help.”
