FLIXTON marched on in the League Challenge cup with a second-round thumping of Glossop North End.
Despite difficult conditions, Flixton chose to play with the wind in the first half.
They should have taken the lead on 17 minutes when Bradley Barnes crossd to the back stick and found Joz Mitten.
He squared the ball to Lee Wilkinson, whose goal-bound effort was cleared off the line by Andy Levendis.
Flixton opened the scoring on 24 minutes.
Andy Robertson in the Flixton goal, launched the ball downfield, and after bouncing once it fell at the feet of Mitten who shot low and hard into the net.
Glossop equalised on the half hour mark, when a long throw from the left was held up in the wind, and the ball eventually reached Daren Hamilton, who thumped the ball home.
Flixton stretched their lead after 36 minutes. Again Robertson had the assist - this time finding Leon Grandison.
His shot was partly saved by Stewart Williams, but the ball still ended up in the net.
With half time looming, Glossop struggled to clear their lines and Grandison shot low and hard to register his second.
The second half started with Flixton pushing forward. With just two minutes gone of the half, Barnes blasted the ball home to make it 4-1. Glossop were now playing for pride and tried to pen Flixton back in their own half.
The home side were happy to play on the break and Mitten bagged the fifth on 55 minutes, lobbing the ball over Williams.
Substitute Andy Lundy had been on the field for only 10 minutes when he added the sixth goal. He completed the rout for the home side when he saw Williams off his line and chipped over the hapless keeper's head.
Glossop were not completely finished however, as Evans prodded the ball home after a rare break from the visitors.
On Saturday November 18, Flixton are in FA Vase action playing last year's quarter finallists Pickering town, at Valley Road, 3pm kick off. The reserves are also in cup action , when they travel to play FC United of Manchester at Abbey Hey Fc at 3pm.
