Carrington 22 Widnes 17
CARRINGTON seconds entertained Widnes in a hard fought but well spirited game on Saturday.
With a couple of defeats hanging around their necks the second team's mixture of youth and experience provided a last minute, well-earned victory.
In a toe-to-toe dual of try scoring Carrington were thankful to stand off Bradshaw who grabbed a brace to keep the Pigs in touch with Widnes.
A 45-yard blistering run from centre "Pie" was too much for the opposition defence to handle as a combination of strength and power led him to the try line.
With the game locked at 17-17 with three minutes to go a draw was on the cards. However young prop Rob, in only his fourth game for the club, took the ball 10 yards out, spun a defender and crashed over for the winning try.
Captain Barton said after the game: "I thought we had lost our chance when the kick under the sticks was missed but thankfully the young players pulled us through."
Carrington are always looking for players of all ages and ability and will coach players new to the game. If you are interested in coming training then call Jim on 07782172694
