LEE Warburton was the toast of Timperley as the Stockport Road side upset former treble winners Cheadle at the weekend.
Mo Wright's team are sitting pretty in fourth place in the Men's North of England Lacrosse League Premier Division after their fourth win of the campaign, a nerve-racking 12-11 victory on Saturday.
And it was Warburton, with four goals, who led the way as Timperley raced into a 4-1 first quarter lead and then led 7-4 at half-time.
The home side won the next quarter 3-2 to lead 10-6 going into the final 20 minutes, before a spirited effort saw them hold on to edge victory by a single goal.
England ace Andy Brickell added a hat-trick, James Shuttleworth a brace, and further goals from Max Sandy, Will Sandy and Steve Parkinson proved pivotal.
Martin Patterson and Andrew Beard kept former league winners Cheadle in the hunt with hat-tricks, while Dave Carman and Adrian Bennett bagged braces and ex-England international Daren Baythorpe was also on target.
But Timperley held firm and kept the pressure on the leading trio.
"Our defence was solid and we had a really good first quarter, which gave us a lot of impetus during the game," said Timperley goalkeeper Neil Ascot, back this season after a lengthy layoff with knee injuries.
"It was a great game, but it was very fraught in the last quarter when Cheadle came back at us.
"We played really well in patches, but I was really pleased with the character we showed when we were under pressure at the end. Everyone pulled together."
Meanwhile, Timperley A had plenty to smile about after a convincing 16-4 victory away to Heaton Mersey B in Division Four.
Timperley's under 19s team suffered heartache with an agonising 9-8 loss to Oldham in the Autumn League Conference B on Sunday night.
