Bowdon second XV 5 Carrington 17
CARRINGTON travelled to the high calibre Bowdon club on Saturday eager to perform but as certain underdogs.
That label was somewhat justified as 10 minutes in Carrington were constantly defending against a strong and experienced team but managed to keep them at bay.
Aware that a true battle was on their hands, Carrington persisted in putting their bodies on the line and gradually started to inch their way up the pitch.
The home spectators were subdued in a realisation that the Pigs had come to play and refused to be walked over.
No better example was than when Bowdon's huge number eight charged ten yards like an unstoppable force, only to be met by Carrington's unmoveable "Big Al" who buried him with a crunching tackle.
Carrington were rewarded with a penalty that Ogg slotted to go into half time 3-0 ahead and deservedly so.
The second half was more of the same but with 20 minutes left Bowdon finally beat the Carrington defence to go ahead 5-3 and by the crowd's reaction, the game had turned.
However, Carrington responded instantly and after immense work from the forwards who destroyed Bowdon in an attacking scrum, Ogg burst through to score.
Minutes later a superb break from Pickup led to a pop to Brame who charged through for another to seal an amazing win for Carrington.
The seconds drew 10-10 with Bolton to make it two games unbeaten.
Carrington are always looking for players of all ages and ability and will coach players new to the game. If you are interested please call Jim on 07782 172694.
