BROOKLANDS Hulmeians under 12s lacrosse side proved to strong for a determined Poynton side at Georges Road as they ran out 16-3 winners.

The home side once again got off to a quick start, reaching a 4-0 lead after the first quarter.

During this time, the offence had many terrific scoring opportunities, but were limited to four goals after a terrific goalkeeping display by the Poynton netminder.

Not to be outdone by their goaltender, the Poynton offense shined bright, matching Brooklands' three goals in the second quarter and keeping themselves in the game, trailing 7-3 at the half.

After a spirited half time talk by coaches Crowley and Fox, Brooklands once again had a monstrous third quarter, scoring five goals while shutting out the opposition.

The team's fine play continued into the final period as they scored an additional four goals while holding Poynton scoreless to earn the much deserved result.

The Brooklands' offence was led on the day by Ben Fox who scored eight goals and Ryan Forshaw who scored two goals while chipping in four assists.

Other scorers included Tim Hyde (two), Jon Needham (two), Tom Thirsk, and Luke Tatton.

The defence played equally as well, holding a very skilled Poynton attack to just three goals over the course of 60 minutes.

The under 14s triumphed in one of their biggest tests of the season so far, beating Cheadle 13-7.

Cheadle, one of the strongest under 14 teams, took an early 2-0 lead and led at the end of the first quarter, 4-2.

Brooklands clawed back with goals from Ryan Sweetman, who led all scorers with six goals and grabbed a game high eight groundballs.

Adam Wain again dominated the face-off circle and picked up five groudballs.

The Brooklands midfield unit received the man of the match award for setting the tempo on offence, creating some great fastbreaks, and taming Cheadle's strong midfield attack.

Andrew Challis, Cameron Laws, and James Platt did a good job of supporting Wain on the draws with hard work that doesn't always show up on the statsheet.

Tom Harrison moved back to midfield with the return of recently injured Josh Kinder and added three goals, two on excellent backdoor cuts.
