Altrincham Kersal 37 Penrith 8

ALTRINCHAM Kersal racked up five tries for the second week running as they thrashed Penrith 37-8 at Stelfox Avenue.

They now sit third in the North One table after an impressive run of six consecutive wins, resurrecting their promotion hopes.

The first score for Kersal came from an Edwards penalty after five minutes but this was quickly cancelled out when Young slotted one over for Penrith.

The score stayed on level terms until, after a period of continuous recycling, prop Minson crashed over and Edwards added the conversion.

Another five points were added for Kersal when Worsfold, who went into the fly half position after Ashman went off injured, snapped up a loose ball and fed Hulse who was tackled short.

From the rucked ball Petite went over in the corner.

Kersal extended their lead further 15 minutes into the second half when they won a five-metre lineout and moved the ball across the line for Murphy to finish in the right corner.

But Penrith showed their capabilities when they managed to escape the clutches of the Kersal defence.

Good support play and quick recycling brought an unconverted try for Stephens.

That was their last successful foray into Kersal territory, however, and the home side grabbed their fourth try when Morris broke from a ruck and fed Worsfold who in turn sent in Burgess for the score.

Another Edwards penalty took the lead to 22 points before Burgess completed his brace in the closing stages, beating his man and chipping ahead to touch down.

Edwards took his tally to 12 points with the conversion to round off another good Kersal win.

Meanwhile Kersal's Colts demolished Ormskirk 43-6 thanks to two tries each from Holloway and Nettleton, who also bagged four conversions, and one apiece for O'Connor, Purvis and Eason.
