TWO Trafford youngsters have the Olympics in their sights as they both swept to victory at the Taekwondo British National Championships in Loughborough.

Dominic Brooks, 17, and Jordan Gayle, 15, took gold in their respective age and weight groups at the event held at the Loughborough academy on Sunday November 19.

The boys train five times a week at the George Carnell Centre in Davyhulme under the watchful eye of Brian Green who believes they are the latest in a long line of talent coming out of the area.

Dominic, who attends Urmston Grammar, started Taekwondo when he was just four years old as his mother wanted him to be able to take care of himself in this hard world' according to proud father Peter Brooks.

He said: "They don't usually take children on as young as four, but they made an exception for Dom, they could see his potential."

Jordan attends Jeff Joseph School in Sale and has been doing Taekwondo since he was six years old. His performance at the British Nationals saw Jordan excel himself.

His father Alan Gayle told SAM sport: "Jordan was probably the underdog, he is still relatively new so it was a great achievement to knock over' the reigning champion, it was an outstanding performance."

There has been a huge amount of interest in the boys from British coaches and Sunday's victory was won at the home of the British team.

The next step for the boys, coach Brian Green believes, is to prove their worth and gain a place in the academy. The Olympics would then be next, aspirations that both boys share.

"It is a long hard road, but both lads have the skill and determination to make it, it would come of no surprise to me to see them at the Olympics," said Brian.
