AFTER handing out a 6-0 thrashing to Curzon Ashton, Altrincham again hit four second-half goals, this time against Chester, to bring their week's tally to 10 without reply in back-to-back National League North victories.
Fielding an unchanged starting XI, Altrincham were unable to break through in a first half during which they barely troubled the visitors' keeper.
Although Alty had enjoyed more of the early possession, it took a full-length save from keeper Tony Thompson to keep out Chester before the interval.
Altrincham started the second half poorly, making heavy weather of keeping the visitors out as they failed to clear the ball.
But, after just five minutes, Chester captain Scott Burton was sent off for a second bookable offence.
And, just a minute later, the visitors' plight worsened as they conceded a goal when Wigan Athletic loanee, Joe Piggott, added to his hat-trick in the previous game to slot the ball home after good work by Josh Hancock.
Chester offered little threat after the double blow of losing a man and a goal before the hosts doubled their lead in the 63rd minute.
It was Hancock himself who was on the mark this time, driving the ball home after John Johnston's third attempt to cross the ball had reached his team-mate.
Just six minutes later, Hancock was on the mark again following a corner by Johnston.
And the icing on the cake was a fourth goal, in the 90th minute, when Johnston got a touch on a Simon Richman shot.
The win lifted Altrincham to fifth in the division as their hopes of a play-off place were enhanced.
