Altrincham have been given the chance to showcase their outstanding recent form to a nationwide audience after being selected for live television coverage over Christmas and the New Year.
An unbeaten run of nine games has lifted Phil Parkinson’s side into fifth position in the National League and seen them emerge as credible candidates for a place in the promotion play-offs.
It has also attracted the attention of national broadcasters TNT Sports, who have included two Alty games in their latest package of live matches.
The Robins’ trip to a Bromley side who are currently third in the table is the standout fixture of the Christmas weekend, and TNT’s cameras will be on hand to screen what promises to be a compelling 90 minutes live from Hayes Lane on Saturday December 23, kicking off at 5.30pm.
The dust will only just have settled on that heavyweight clash when Alty find themselves performing before a nationwide audience again for Rochdale’s historic visit to The J.Davidson Stadium on Tuesday January 23 (8pm).
Though Dale appeared at Moss Lane for an FA Cup tie in 1982 that the Robins won 2-1, this will be the first-ever league encounter between the teams at The J.Davidson, and the TNT cameras will be there, screening all the action live before what is sure to be a bumper crowd under the lights.
The Dale game will be Alty’s third live TV appearance of the season, after TNT showed their 2-1 win at Oxford City at the end of September, and assistant manager Neil Sorvel views it as an opportunity to illustrate how they have become a force to be reckoned with in the National League.
“It’s great to get this sort of exposure, with another two really good games, really tough, competitive ones,” he said ahead of Saturday’s home match with Southend United.
“It shows the strides we are making as a club moving forward, and we’ll be aiming to show everyone what we are about, as we did at Oxford.”
