Two 13-year-old debut-making bowlers took the honours for Timperley CC’s second team who beat Cheadle Hulme by eight wickets.

Ace spinner Aryan Dash, who is one of the brightest talents on the Cheshire county scene, and opening pace bowler Murtaza Khan each picked up two wickets as the home side were bowled out for a lowly 124 off 45 overs.

Khan’s father, the team skipper Shahnawaz, chipped in with three wickets and a run-out, with another Cheshire teenager, Jamie Spencer, and Muhammad Haris landing the other two wickets.

In reply, the star man for Timperley was undoubtedly Rohan Parmar who hit 61 - and the 124 target was reached in 37 overs to keep the young side, marshalled by club stalwart Shahnawaz, top of the table.

After a great T20 win against Marple in which Timperley firsts scored 254, including a first hundred for the club for Caedence Kuepper, they were well beaten by Widnes in front of another bumper crowd at Stockport Road.

Widnes won the toss and chose to bowl first. This decision was backed up with a couple of early wickets courtesy of some tight bowling. After a rebuild from Timperley, they collapsed from 50-2 to 97-8.

From here Nathan Brown, Chris Page, and Callum Yates all showed the top order how to bat properly on a good surface.

Skipper Ed Galley said: “All three did superbly, with a special mention to Brown finishing 57 not out. This took us to a 211 total which was a huge momentum shift to us.

“With the ball, in what was a fiery contest, Widnes dominated and cruised to the 211 total with only one wicket down.

“As much as it was a disappointing day with a largely sub-standard performance from most, I have no doubt the boys will go again, work hard in training, and put in some better performances against Cheadle and Toft in our next two important games.”
