Altrincham Kersal Rugby Club has been part of the community for more than 125 years as they approach the new season.

From the senior first XV down to the mini and junior rugby enthusiasts, they have been playing rugby union at their base on Stelfox Avenue, Timperley for a long time.

Born in 1899 with Queen Victoria still on the throne and the first motorised buses hitting the streets of London, Kersal RFC has been playing, coaching and enjoying grass roots rugby ever since.

The senior first and second XV are in action most Saturdays,in the Regional North West Divisions, taking on clubs like Bowdon, Liverpool St Helen’s, Douglas (IOM) and Burnage.

Then, every Sunday morning from 10am, it is the kids’ turn to take to the pitch with juniors coached from the age of four upwards in skills that will be remembered for the rest of their lives, such as teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship.

Off the pitch, the clubhouse has a hospitality outlet, whether that be for a hot chocolate on the touchline on a frosty Sunday morning watching the minis and juniors in action, to a refreshing ale in the function suite while enjoying, live, domestic and international televised rugby such as the Six Nations.

There is also a function room available for hire with bespoke menus on offer.

The club is open to all, be it anyone interested in playing or just being part of the community at Stelfox Avenue.
