G'DAY from down under!
I have an unusual request...My grandfather Samuel Barnes came from Manchester to live in Australia in the early 1900s.
He enlisted in the AIF and was killed at Lagnicourt on 15/4/1917. In researching his file, documents came to light that he had a sister in law named Ellen Baxter living at Hamon Road off Manor Road off Moss Lane.
Mrs Baxter was making inquiries as to his whereabouts in 1917 and was informed of his demise.
However our family was not aware of this relationship, Mrs Baxter may have also resided at 42 Brunswick Road, Broadheath.
I was wondering if I could ask, through your paper, if there are any living grandchildren or great grandchildren who may have knowledge of this part of history.
I am 62 years of age and reside at the following address, and would be most grateful for your anticipated assistance.
