FURTHER to recent reminisces about the Hardrock in Stretford - I was a regular diary keeper during my teenage years and I quote in full my entry for July 29, 1973, when I went to a dreadful, very short Faces concert.
"At 5.15 we went to the Hardrock. We queued for 30 minutes and then we went in and waited for an hour sat on the floor. We had very good seats near to the front (rather floor seats!).
"However, even before the support group came on some people ran up and so the whole audience were squashed at the front. The support group was called "Spiders" and were fairly good. Everybody was sweating pints and I was so hot and squashed, it was unbelievable. The Faces came on at about 10.15 pm. They were brilliant at first. I felt ill and after four songs I started to move away from the front.
"However, I fainted, I was helped out and given a glass of water. I then went back in a nd stood at the back. Kenny Jones collapsed over his drums and was taken to hospital. This made them go off early and they didn't play an encore.
