THE powers that be at the post office in The Square, Sale, are missing a trick. I have just queued for more than 30 minutes of my one-hour lunch break, with only the sight of the empty shelves and rundown appearance of the former shop premises to occupy my mind.

Perhaps they should set up a crawl by' food concession, so that people can at least take in nourishment while they wait in line. The proceeds could then pay for a string quartet to perform in a corner of the premises to soothe the burgeoning queue rage.

Alternatively, they could just offer something approaching an acceptable service and man more than two counter positions at the busiest time of the day - but maybe that's too fanciful a suggestion!
