THE TIME for the residents of Stretford to be consulted about the proposal to destroy our beautiful town hall is long overdue.
The cricket ground is entirely responsible for it's own lack of space after having sold off ground that could have been used to extend it If further ground is needed then what is wrong with coming to an arrangement with the store that is right next door to it and has another outlet not far away, instead of destroying a lovely and historic building .
The council did exactly the same thing with Longford Hall which they deliberately allowed to become derelict and then claimed that it was too far gone to put right.
By the way, the planning department seem to need to be informed: consultation means consulting interested parties before the bulldozers move in and not allowing them three minutes to object after it is all done and dusted, all the while being treated like naughty school children.
