I WRITE in response to the letter from Rev Cavagan regarding Watling Gate (SAM Nov 23).
As a local ward councillor, I have attended a number of meetings regarding this issue over the past few months.
At none of these meetings have I ever seen Rev Cavagan, but if he had attended, he would be aware that my intentions have always been to help secure a solution for the residents and return this beautiful building to its former glory.
Contrary to Rev Cavagan's comments, I have never wanted residential development on the site and maintain that position today.
It is important that I set the record straight and it is a shame that Rev Cavagan didn't even bother to speak to me before writing his ill-informed letter.
We need to work together to secure a reasonable solution before this beautiful building is beyond repair.
Misinformation is not helpful and will not save this historic treasure and I will continue to work hard in this vein.
Councillor Mrs Brenda Houraghan, Broadheath Ward
