TRAFFORD Housing Trust's chief executive Matthew Gardiner states that the five sheltered housing schemes throughout Trafford should be brought up to scratch eg no shared bathrooms etc.
Well as a Vale Court, Bowdon, resident I can assure him that every flat here has its own bathroom, kitchen plus a disabled bathroom for anyone with bathing difficulties.
We are not isolated from amenities, we have an excellent Co-op supermarket, post office and chemist just round the corner plus a good bus service to Altrincham.
On the day we received notice of closure we were given a leaflet of questions and answers.
One of the questions was Are the closures about saving money?' and the answer was an emphatic not at all' but in the Messenger, November 23, Mr Gardiner said there are a range of options for all the schemes but the chance of Bowdon being sold are somewhat higher. It's not well used but is in an attractive area.' Too attractive for old fogies Mr Gardiner?
What would a property developer pay for a location with a Bowdon postcode?
No this is not about saving money Mr Gardiner - it's about making money. We might be old but we aren't daft.
HG, Vale Court
